CurrentBody LED Mask Review
10

The CurrentBody Skin LED Mask (Series 2) is an advanced anti-aging device that uses clinical-grade LED technology to rejuvenate skin at home.

Here's how it stacked up after our testing:

  • Effectiveness: Its combination of three clinical wavelengths (633 nm, 830 nm, and 1072 nm) delivered through 236 LED bulbs provides excellent coverage and deep penetration up to 10mm into the skin. The device is FDA-cleared and backed by clinical studies, with users typically reporting visible results within 4 weeks. The strong expert endorsements from dermatologists and aestheticians further support its efficacy claims.
  • Comfort: The flexible silicone design and "Best-Fit" shape, tested on thousands of faces, ensures a comfortable fit for most users. The Series 2 features improved nose and lip coverage compared to its predecessor, and the lightweight design makes the 10-minute treatment sessions quite manageable.
  • Value: It represents a significant investment and is pricier than some competitors. However, the price point is justified by premium features like three wavelengths (when most competitors offer only two), professional-grade technology, a 60-day money back guarantee, and a two-year warranty.
  • Convenience: The mask offers quick 10-minute sessions and features USB-C charging for easy power management. Its portable design includes a storage bag, and the hands-free operation allows for multitasking during treatment sessions, such as watching TV or reading.
  • Quality & Safety: The mask's FDA clearance, Veritace® NFC card verification system, and consistent LED precision demonstrate strong commitment to safety and reliability. The device has no reported side effects, is used in clinical settings, and comes from an established brand with excellent warranty support and reputation.

The CurrentBody LED Mask Series 2 stands as a premium device that, while expensive, justifies its price through superior quality, safety features, and proven effectiveness. Plus, enjoy 20% with code BEAMSCB!

What Is The CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2?

The CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2 is the latest, upgraded version of the original LED Face Mask (Series 1).

Using three clinically-proven red light wavelengths, it seeks to reduce wrinkles, improve skin tone, and give you that glowing complexion.

Plus, with its new and improved design, this LED mask is designed to produce faster results (with more LEDs and wavelengths!) while maximizing coverage (including upgraded full lip, nose, and chin coverage!).

Compared to its predecessor, it has:

  • 79% more LEDs (236 bulbs vs. 132 bulbs)
  • additional wavelengths (633 nm, 830 nm, 1072 nm)
  • a revamped silicone design that prioritizes comfort and coverage – it literally contours to your face!
  • optional eye inserts that make reading or watching easier (all while protecting your eyes!) – it’s a massive improvement over wearing eye goggle under the mask
  • a multiway strap that provides a more secure fit than the previous version – I tried jumping up and down and the mask didn’t budge at all!

Plus, it’s FDA-cleared and comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee so you can try it 100% risk-free.

Pros

  • Uses three clinically-proven wavelengths for fast and effective results
  • Improved design provides more coverage while staying just as comfortable as before
  • Comes with a unique Veritace® NFC card so you can see all the quality testing your mask has undergone
  • Completely painless, non-invasive treatment that takes just 10 minutes
  • Visible results in as fast as 4 weeks

    Cons

    • A bit bulkier than before, so not as travel-friendly if you’re always on-the-go
    • Single treatment option - no way to toggle on specific wavelengths
    • Definitely a bit of an investment

What To Consider Before Purchasing A LED Face Mask

With so many LED face masks on the market, it can be hard knowing which one to buy. Fortunately, we’ve done quite a bit of research (and testing!) on them.

Here are the key things to consider before investing in one:

      • Cost vs Value: These devices aren’t cheap, so consider if you’ll actually use it consistently to get your money’s worth.
      • Your Skincare Goals: What are you looking to get out of a LED mask? For anti-aging benefits, look for a LED mask that uses both red and near-infrared light. For anti-acne benefits, look for a mask that uses blue light.
      • Your “Problem” Areas: Are there specific areas you’re looking to treat? If you’re looking for full-face benefits, a LED mask makes sense. If you’re looking to treat your lips, you might be better off getting a lip mask like this one.
      • Quality Markers: Look for a device with FDA-clearance, authentic reviews, and a return policy. Your best bet is to look at the 3 or 4-star reviews for honest feedback.
      • Time Commitment: You’ll need to use it regularly (3-5 times per week) for the best results. Each session is about 10 minutes – are you willing to build this into your routine?. Results typically take 4+ weeks to show up, so you need patience.

      What We Liked

After thoroughly testing this LED mask, we can confidently say it’s a massive improvement over the previous version (Series 1).

More Comfortable & Greater Coverage For A Better User Experience

The unique “best-fit flexible liquid silicone shape” (as CurrentBody calls it) is, in our opinion, one of the best features of the mask. It contours to your face – so all the LEDs are right up against your skin.

A minor flaw of the previous version (and all masks that had the same design) is that the “flat” design didn’t provide the best coverage. For me, the LEDs sat flush against my forehead and cheeks but there was a bigger gap between the device and bottom of my face. This led to uneven treatment – where it took much longer to see results for that part of my face (especially my chin).

With this new “curved” design, the mask ensures comprehensive coverage of the entire face, making it a much better option. Plus, it’s just as comfortable!

The optional eye inserts are also worth a shoutout. They’re such an underrated addition!

In the past, because the LEDs were so bright, I used to wear eye goggles under the mask so I could watch TV while wearing the mask.

(As you can imagine, this was downright uncomfortable!)

Fortunately, with these new eye inserts, I can pop them in and go about my day while wearing the mask. They’re comfortable, and I’m not left with “raccoon eyes” (i.e. goggle marks around my eyes). They’re also super easy to insert.

Clinically-Proven Wavelengths For More Effective Treatment

The CurrentBody LED Mask: Series 2 uses three red light wavelengths to provide anti-aging benefits: 633 red light, 830 nm near-infrared light, and 1072 nm deep near-infrared light.

In one study, researchers looked at the impact of 633 nm and 830 nm light on wrinkles. In just 12 weeks, 52% of participants experienced a 25%-50% improvement in photoaging scores and 81% of participants reported a significant improvement in periorbital wrinkles [1].

Researchers have also found 1072 nm light to reduce wrinkles and eye bags [2, 3].

These results were also seen in men (who typically have thicker skin) [4] – demonstrating red light therapy’s potential to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in both men and women.

Most other LED masks on the market offer 633 nm and 830 nm, but, at the time of writing this article, very few offer 1072 nm light. This additional wavelength makes this LED face mask a great option for those whose primary concern is anti-aging.

Highest Quality Device For Safe & Fast Results

Typically, there hasn’t been a “gold standard” for LED mask quality. We had to trust companies that they were building “high quality” products. Or, that is, until CurrentBody introduced the Veritace® Mark.

The Veritace® Mark is a sign of quality, indicating that your mask has been carefully tested and tracked throughout every stage of production.

Each device comes with a unique Veritace® NFC card, where you can see every stage of quality testing your mask has undergone.

Instruction for using Veritace card to check device quality

You can, for instance, see spectroradiometer results showing you the exact wavelengths of your mask’s LEDs. You can also see the results of their battery testing – so no more disappointment upon receiving a mask that has a malfunctioning battery!

This is a super cool feature that we’ve never seen before in the industry. Here’s a screenshot from my phone:

      Spectroradiometer precision testing graph passed
As a side note, I will say that the look and feel of the new device makes it seem much more premium than before. The battery/controller looks clean and modern. The included storage bag is soft and well-made.

      What We Didn’t Like

That said, there are some things that we weren’t the biggest fans of (or at least things you should know!).

      Not As Travel-Friendly

Given the new design’s emphasis on full coverage, the LED mask is a bit “bulkier” compared to before. The curved design makes it slightly “thicker”, i.e. not fully flat like the previous mask. It’s still very lightweight, though!

Not a big deal if you’re using the mask at home. But, it does take up a bit more space than before.

So, if you’re someone who’s always on-the-go and want something super portable, this might not be the best option.

      Only A Single Treatment Option

We’re being a bit nitpicky here, but it’s worth mentioning that the device only has one treatment mode: all three wavelengths turn on at the same time.

Other devices do allow a bit more treatment flexibility, where you can pick which wavelengths to enable.

Again, this isn’t a deal breaker (since we do prefer using all three wavelengths at the same time) – but sharing with you all to be transparent.

      Overall Review

All-in-all, we loved the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2. It’s a serious improvement over the previous version with more LEDs, more wavelengths, a better design, and so much more.

Plus, with its enhanced coverage of the lips, nose, and chin, you can rest assured you’re getting full-facial benefits – no more blind spots!

We’re definitely adding this new device to our skincare routine!
