What To Consider Before Buying A Red Light Therapy Panel

Before we dive into this review, let’s first go over some important purchase considerations.

After all, you want to make a smart decision and get the most out of your investment, right?

Woman using Mito Red Light panels while sitting down

First, ask yourself what you’re looking to use red light therapy for. If you have a specific use case (like hair regrowth), there may be more specialized devices (like laser caps) that would be better for you. If you’re looking for general health benefits or full-body treatments, a red light therapy panel might be the way to go.

Next, think about the wavelengths and irradiance (aka power output) of the panel. Look for ones that emit the right wavelengths (typically 630nm-660nm for red light and 800nm-850nm for near-infrared light) for optimal effectiveness. And, check that it has an irradiance > 100 mW/cm2, so you know it’s delivering the right amount of light for your needs.

Versatility is also key. Look for panels that offer adjustable settings or different modes. This way, you can customize your treatments to fit your specific needs. Flexibility is the name of the game here.

Now, let’s talk about durability. You want a panel that’s built to last. Check the quality of materials and construction. You don’t want to end up with something that falls apart after a few uses. Look for panels that are sturdy and designed for long-term use.

Tip: Read the manufacturer’s warranty policy. A longer warranty period is typically a good sign.

Safety should be a top priority too. Make sure the panel has features like built-in timers, heat management systems, and eye protection measures. These will keep you safe and ensure you can enjoy your therapy worry-free.

User-friendliness matters as well. You want a panel that’s easy to use, with intuitive controls and a pleasant overall experience. After all, the last thing you need is a complicated setup that makes using the panel a chore.

Take some time to read reviews from other users and learn about the reputation of the manufacturer. Positive feedback and a trusted brand can give you confidence in your purchase. Learn more about the company in our Mito Red Light review.

Of course, budget plays a role too. Consider what you’re willing to spend, but keep in mind the value you’re getting. Sometimes, a slightly higher investment can pay off in terms of quality and features.

A red light therapy panel can be a great addition to your wellness routine, but it’s important to choose wisely.

With that out of the way, let’s now talk about the MitoADAPT Series!

These devices take an innovative approach to red light therapy by combining a multi-wavelength design (use up to 11 different combinations of wavelengths!) with a personal tracking app.

This means you can not only monitor your progress but also know exactly which wavelength combination works best for you.

At its core, the MitoADAPT Series is powered by 4 primary wavelengths: 630nm (red light), 660nm (red light), 810nm (near-infrared light), and 850nm (near-infrared light).

These red light wavelengths have been shown to have a number of benefits, from anti-aging to pain relief to wound healing and so much more.

Pros
  • Its dual chip, multi-wavelength design allows you to choose between 11 distinct treatment modes for truly customizable therapy
  • Includes a mobile app so you can keep track of your progress and figure out which wavelength combinations work best for you
  • The built-in control panel makes it super easy to adjust the modes, brightness, time, and more
Cons
  • Lower irradiance than the MitoPRO Series
  • It's a bit pricey
  • Consumers need to use the app for the best results

What Makes The MitoADAPT Series Stand Out?

Here’s what stands out to me about the MitoADAPT Series.

1. Dual Chip, Multi-Wavelength Design

Unlike any other panel on the market, the MitoADAPT has a dual chip, multi-wavelength design that allows each LED to emit multiple wavelengths, giving you unparalleled treatment customization.

Illustration of the 11 different treatment modes on the MitoADAPT Series

This patent-pending design allows you to pick from 11 different wavelength combinations for your treatment:

  • Mode 1: 25% 630nm, 25% 660nm, 25% 810nm, 25% 850nm
  • Mode 2: 50% 630nm, 50% 660nm
  • Mode 3: 50% 660nm, 25% 810nm, 25% 850nm
  • Mode 4: 50% 630nm, 25% 810nm, 25% 850nm
  • Mode 5: 25% 630nm, 25% 660nm, 50% 850nm
  • Mode 6: 25% 630nm, 25% 660nm, 50% 810nm
  • Mode 7: 50% 660nm
  • Mode 8: 50% 630nm
  • Mode 9: 50% 850nm
  • Mode 10: 50% 810nm
  • Mode 11: 50% 810nm, 50% 850nm

Why does this matter?

Wavelength research is still in its infancy.

While there are more and more studies coming out, there’s not a clear “best” red light wavelength for every single condition.

Remember, just because a certain wavelength has a ton of studies on it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily the best. It’s just that we know more about that specific wavelength than others.

With the MitoADAPT approach, you can adapt your treatments not only based on what subjectively works best for you but also what any new studies may say.

This makes it easier for you to find the wavelength mix that fits your needs.

2. Remote Control Capability

The MitoADAPT’s built-in Bluetooth connectivity lets you operate the panel via the Mito Red Light smartphone app.

So if you’re seated comfortably on your sofa or bed, there’s no need to get up and manually operate the digital control panel.

Just use your mobile app to change or manage what you need to enhance your experience.

The panel’s wide-angle design also ensures that you get the full effect of the light, no matter where you are sitting or standing.

3. User-First Design

Built with state-of-the-art components, the MitoADAPT Series is designed to be low EMF and flicker-free.

This means no stress to your body.

It’s also designed to support multi-panel setups.

Simply, connect your other Mito Red Light devices to your MitoADAPT, and the panels will automatically connect electrically.

In other words, you’ll be able to control multiple panels from a single control panel (or mobile app) as long as the devices are all physically connected.

The device works with various stand options, such as vertical or horizontal stands, so you can customize your device setup based on your space and treatment preferences.

The built-in timer feature also allows you to set your session’s duration, giving you the ability to complete your treatment on your terms and on your schedule.

No more “inflexible” treatment durations!

4. Feedback Compatibility

Unlike the previous Mito Red Light models, the MitoADAPT Series has a mobile app that lets you share treatment feedback. The app will ask you about your sleep, energy levels, recovery from exercise, etc. and try to correlate this with your treatment modes.

That said, the coolest feature of this (aka the data-driven treatment recommendations) will only come once Mito Red Light has aggregated enough data from its users.

So, in the short-run, you’re still better off using the app to keep track of which treatment modes subjectively made you feel better.

5. Multiple Uses

The MitoADAPT is a red light device with incredible versatility.

Not only can you use it for your skin’s health, but it can also help with muscle soreness, joint pain, and inflammation.

Additionally, it might be what your body and mind need to improve focus and concentration.

6. Ease of Use

Setting up the device is a simple process.

Plug the power cord into the device, then turn the power switch ON (orange switch) to activate the panel.

From there, you can use the built-in digital control panel or the app to customize and start your treatment.

One “issue” I noticed is that the infrared light indicator needs to be more evident in signaling whether the light is on or off.

Because infrared light isn’t visible to the naked eye, I always have to do a double-check to make sure the infrared light is turned on (or off).

Obviously, the infrared LEDs turn off automatically when you switch off the panel. It just would be nice to have an additional indicator to give me peace of mind.

7. More Portable

While it’s not as portable as a handheld device, the MitoADAPT panels are more portable than their MitoPRO counterparts (and other competitors).

For instance, the MitoADAPT MAX weighs just 18 pounds, compared to the MitoPRO 1500’s 25 pounds.

7 pounds might not seem like a lot, but having a lighter panel makes setting it up (and moving it around) much easier.

The lighter construction makes these MitoADAPT devices more ideal for moving about in your home – if needed.

MitoADAPT vs. MitoPRO

Let’s dive into the details and compare the MitoADAPT and the MitoPRO.

First off, the MitoADAPT offers a unique feature that no other red light therapy panel has (the MitoPRO included). Its dual chip, multi-wavelength design means you get two sets of LED chips that emit light at multiple wavelengths.

What’s interesting about this is that it offers an impressive ELEVEN possible treatment modes. This versatility allows you to customize your therapy sessions based on your specific needs and preferences. Especially when combined with the companion tracking app.

On the other hand, the MitoPRO has a stronger irradiance (aka power output).

Let’s compare the largest devices for each.

The MitoADAPT MAX has an irradiance of 120 mW/cm2 at 6 inches, while the MitoPRO 1500 has an irradiance of 170 mW/cm2 at 6 inches.

Generally, the higher irradiance a device has, the better.

That said, because the MitoPRO devices have fixed red and near-infrared light wavelength combos, there are only 3 different treatment modes (red, near-infrared, and both).

Both panels have their unique strengths and cater to different needs.

It ultimately depends on what you’re looking to achieve with red light therapy.

If you value versatility and the ability to experiment with various modes, the MitoADAPT could be a great fit.

If you value a more powerful device, the MitoPRO might be the one to consider.

Overall Review

At the end of the day, what works for you might not work well for another. Everyone has different lifestyles and treatment goals, and that might mean needing varying treatments.

Having multiple wavelength combos and effective irradiance are two significant elements that distinguish state-of-the-art red light panels from their competitors.

The MitoADAPT Series passes both of these criteria with flying colors.

The 11 different wavelength modes are fantastic additions that aren’t in the older models. It’s truly a feature that gives you the flexibility of choice.

You get to choose the intensity you want based on your needs and what works best for you (using the companion tracking app). If it’s acne, chronic pain, or wrinkles, all you need to do is adjust and get the right balance.

What’s more, you can control the panel with your phone via the mobile app. This might be a great experience if you feel lethargic or have joint pain. You can relax while getting uninterrupted benefits from the panel.

I highly recommend the MitoADAPT Series to anyone looking to improve their health and well-being. It’s an investment in yourself that you won’t regret.
